Biden turned in a disastrous debate performance on Thursday. No two ways about it. It remains to be seen how that affects the ticket, and the party going forward. It is quite possible that Biden can right the ship before November 5. While I fully support the party considering its options, I hope this is a time where cooler heads will prevail.
If there is not a change, then Biden will have to come out forceful, from now until the election (the way he did in North Carolina.) He needs to be strong, not weak; loud, not soft; he must be a commanding presence from now until the election on November 5.
If a change is made on the ticket, Kamala Harris will probably be the new candidate. She is not everyone’s favorite, but she is the Vice President. The party will not pass her over.
While these decisions are being made, there are doors to knock, phones to call, and voters to contact. Regardless of the nominee, voter turnout will be key to winning the election in November. I will continue to do my part to ensure a Democratic victory, regardless of how this plays out at the top.
I invite you to join me on the campaign trail. Thank you!
