Did you know that YOU are the best person to talk to your friends, relatives, and neighbors to encourage them to vote? It’s true — you are more important than you think! That’s why it is so important to have local volunteers (as opposed to paid foot soldiers) when it comes to doing outreach.
Voters (and non-voters who you can register) are more likely to listen to you if they know you; if they perceive you are “local”; if they think they can trust you. People would rather talk to people they know than to people they don’t know. Think about that — would you rather talk to a telemarketer or a neighbor about a product, idea, or candidate?
There are many ways to be involved — and it’s okay to feel shy or awkward at first. Democratic campaigns at all levels need people like you to step up and help elect and re-elect Democrats to positions up and down the ballot.
If you are unsure as to how to get involved, you are not alone! Many people get involved because someone approached them and asked them (that’s what happened to me.) You are welcome to contact me at (215) 687-6380 or David@5519.vote to discuss ways you can make your voice heard and make an impact on the political process. Hope to hear from you!
