President Biden has two choices – he must regain the trust and backing of the Democratic Party (which he has not done yet) or drop out of the Presidential race (which, again, he has not done yet.) The confusion and time-lag is not good for anyone who is a registered Democrat.
In my view, Biden should drop out. It’s not that he is old, or unpopular. The issue is that he has lost the trust of the Democratic Party. Without the full faith and backing of the Democratic Party, any candidate is lost against Trump. It’s not just the party big-wigs that matter, either – it’s volunteers like me who canvass and phone bank. We need to be fully on-board, and right now, I don’t see it.
I mean no disrespect to President Biden. He is the President, and he got us out of COVID. He also beat Donald Trump. If he were younger, I would be backing him all the way, but his time has passed. Life isn’t fair.
In his final days as President, Biden can do a great deal of good, both for the country, and the Democratic Party. It is someone else’s turn, and the sooner he recognizes that, the better.
